Goliath House is here to assist you with this and turn you into a David. Goliath House is a recovery support program for men. Recovery support programs offer individuals recovery support services such as, care coordination, spiritual and group counseling, life skills training, recovery housing, and transportation assistance. This can be before, during, after, or independent of substance use disorder treatment. These services are offered in a multitude of settings including, but not limited to; community support groups, faith-based organizations, and self-help and peer recovery groups.
MY NAME IS CYNTHIA MELTON, FOUNDER AND CEO OF GOLIATH HOUSE.
I am an LCSW licensed in the state of Missouri. I have worked in the field of substance use disorders for 5 years and in the mental health field for 10+years. I am currently working on receiving my doctorate in Behavioral Health. I have personally seen the results that can come from substance abuse. My son started abusing substances when he was 14 years old and left home at the age of 16 years to pursue a career of drug dealing. I ask myself daily how I missed that he was abusing marijuana and then moving onto different addictive substances. He was a straight A student, football player, and “all around great guy”. Looking back now after working in the field, I recognize the signs of deviancy and mood swings. But at that time, I thought he was a regular moody teenager. At the age of 16 years old, my son got his first DUI and at 17 years old he committed his first felony. He has spent 12 years in and out substance use treatment centers and the Department of Corrections. He is my reason for wanting to help others. This part of his life has been his Goliath (coincidentally his name is David.)
